ST. GEORGE, Utah – CSU Bakersfield’s men’s golf team improved upon its first-round score by 13 strokes to close out Southern Utah’s Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Invitational on Tuesday. Freshman Dominick Hoover led CSUB on the weekend while four Roadrunners scored in the 70s in CSUB’s final round.
“We finished stronger today,” said Meggan Bunker, CSUB’s men’s head coach. “It’s nice to have our hard work start showing through. It’s not all the way where it needs to be, but it’s getting so much closer. We are getting stronger mentally on the golf course and it is helping us improve. More hard work is yet to come and we will be ready for Sacramento State.”
Hoover, a freshman from Monterey Bay, Calif., followed up his 76 on Monday with a 75 on Tuesday to pace the ‘Runners with a score of 151 overall. Hoover’s score was tied for 42nd overall among 77 student-athletes in the tournament. After leading the ‘Runners in Round 2 with a 74, junior Nathan Green finished just one stroke behind Hoover at 152.
