FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – CSU Bakersfield’s women’s indoor track and field wrapped up the Mountain T’s Invitational with another day of competition and more impressive results from its group of young student-athletes.

“I was happy with the way some of our freshmen ran today,” said Marcia Mansur-Wentworth, CSUB’s Director of Track and Field. “Falon ran CSUB’s Division I best time in the 60 hurdles and Mariah ran a personal best in the 60-meter dash.”

Freshman Falon Wilson posted the top time of the preliminary heats of the 60m dash (7.81), lowering her personal best by .05 seconds. Fellow freshmen Mariah LeSure (8.05) and Jazmine Ramey (8.11) were close behind their teammate in third and fourth, respectively. In the finals, Wilson finished second with a time of 7.82 while LeSure and Ramey improved their prelim times to 8.00 and 8.10, respectively.

Wilson, a Bakersfield native, also finished first in the 60m hurdles on Saturday with a new collegiate-best time of 9.11. Redshirt senior Tricia Cervantes was close behind at 9.42 while freshman Julianne Finch (10.06) and junior Susannah Vera (10.11) crossed the line after Cervantes. Wilson went on to lower her PR again in finals with a mark of 9.00. Cervantes (9.32), Finch (9.90), and Vera (9.94) all improved in the finals as well.

Redshirt senior Ariana Mariscal ran the 800m for the first time in two years and posted a time of 2:30.26 to finish third. Junior Angel Valdez made her track season debut with a solid mark in the 3000m (11:40.22) to finish first. Freshmen Irma Torres (12:15.13) and Alejandra Frausto (12:16.61) were close behind Valdez.

The Roadrunners will return to Bakersfield to prepare for their final meet of the indoor season in two weeks. The Western Athletic Conference Indoor Championships will take place Feb. 23-25 in Nampa, Idaho. A select group of CSUB’s top student-athletes will attend the meet, looking for individual All-Conference honors.
