BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – During the CSU Bakersfield men’s basketball team’s run through the Western Athletic Conference Tournament and into the NCAA Tournament, the Roadrunners received national attention. The basketball team was not the sole recipient of that attention as our very own Rowdy circulated national media and was voted “#1 Mascot” in the NCAA Tournament. On Thursday, Aug. 25, CSUB students have the opportunity to continue the legacy by trying out to become the next Rowdy.

The tryout is scheduled for 6 p.m. on the 25th and will take place in the Icardo Center. The 2016-17 Rowdy will be selected from the best candidates who have the ability to lead a crowd through non-verbal actions such as dancing, use of signs, or other body movements to pump up the fans. A successful candidate will be someone who enjoys interacting with Roadrunners fans, young and old alike.

One of the best parts of being Rowdy is always having the best seat in the house at all CSUB sporting events. If you think you have what it takes to get the ‘Runner fans on their feet this year, come to the Icardo Center Lobby at 6 p.m. on Aug. 25.
