BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Batabe Zempare (So., Accra, Ghana, Scottsdale Chapparal HS) broke her own Division I school record for most rebounds in a game as Bakersfield (12-8, 6-2 WAC) defeated Texas-Pan American (11-10, 5-3 WAC) 82-74 Saturday in Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball action.

Zempare grabbed 21 rebounds, breaking her previous mark by two which she recorded earlier Nov. 20 against Concordia-Irvine. Zempare earned her sixth double-double of the year as she scored 14 points (going 6-of-6 from the free throw line). Tyonna Outland (R-Jr., Compton, Calif., Lynwood HS) earned her second double-double of the season as she scored a game high 21 points and nabbed 12 rebounds.

Melissa Sweat (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Southern Oregon) scored 19 points, tallied six assists, and had five rebounds. Alyssa Shannon (So., Bakersfield, Calif., Stockdale HS) charted 11 points and dished out six rebounds. Bakersfield outscored the Broncs 52-34 in the paint and outrebound UTPA 52-45.

The Roadrunners now have sole possession of second place in the WAC, trailing, the league leader, Idaho (15-7, 8-0 WAC), by two games. Bakersfield hosts fifth place Grand Canyon (15-6, 4-4 WAC) next Saturday at 1 p.m.
