BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Batabe Zempare (So., Accra, Ghana, Scottsdale Chapparal HS) scored a career high 26 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to lead Bakersfield (11-8, 5-2 WAC) past New Mexico State (6-14, 3-14 WAC) 86-63 in Western Athletic Conference women's basketball action Thursday night.

Zempare went 13-of-18 from the field as the Roadrunners made 35-of-66 field goal attempts on the night (53%). It was Zempare's fifth double-double of the year.

With the score tied at halftime, the Aggies took a six point early in the second half. With the score tied at 48 at the 14:48 mark, Bakersfield went on a 10-0 run to take the lead for good. The Roadrunners would outscore the Aggies 38-15 over the final 14+ minutes of the game.

A total of five 'Runners scored in double figures. Tyonna Outland (R-Jr., Compton, Calif., Lynwood HS) posted 17 points, seven rebounds, and a game high six assists. Shaquita Smith (Jr., Buffalo, N.Y., ASA College) scored a season high 15 points as she made four three-point field goals. Melissa Sweat (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Southern Oregon) was 6-of-10 from the field as she scored 15 points and pulled in seven rebounds. Dajy Vines (R-Jr., Oxnard, Calif., Santa Clara HS) was 3-of-3 from three-point range and tallied 11 points.

Bakersfield outscored New Mexico State 54-26 in the paint. The Roadrunners outrebounded New Mexico State 47-39 and had 21 assists. Bakersfield, the winners of three in a row, host Texas-Pan American (11-9, 5-2 WAC) Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
