DENVER – Bakersfield redshirt junior guard Tyonna Outland has been named Western Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 20-26. This is her third WAC Player of the Week honor of the season.

The Compton, Calif., native led Bakersfield to a 2-0 record last week with road wins at Chicago State and Kansas City. Outland opened the week with 18 points, four rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal against the Cougars. She followed it up with 27 points, four rebounds, four steals and two blocks in an 87-80 win over the Kangaroos.

For the week, Outland averaged 22.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks, and shot 57.7 percent from the field, 75 percent from three-point range and  92.3 percent from the free throw line. With the 45 points last week, the junior moved into fifth place on the Bakersfield career scoring chart with 1,183 points.

Outland was also named CollegeSportsMadness WAC Women's Player of the Week for her efforts.

The Roadrunners host New Mexico State Thursday night in the Icardo Center. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
