BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- Guarantee Shoe Center, a fixture in downtown Bakersfield, announced this week a new partnership with Bakersfield Athletics and the Roadrunner Scholarship Fund as the local business celebrates their 60th anniversary.
As part of the promotion this year, Guarantee Shoe Center located on the corner of 21st and Chester, will have a special offer for Roadrunner fans. When fans bring their ticket stubs from a CSUB home game to the store and make a purchase, Guarantee Shoe Center will donate 10-percent of that sale back to the Roadrunner Scholarship Fund.
“I know the athletes work very, very hard and it’s not easy going to school and training for all these sporting events,” said Rosco Rolnick, owner of Guarantee Shoe Center. “I think the athletic-scholarship program is appreciated by every single athlete and I know what their (fundraising) goal is at CSUB and if I can add 10 or 20 thousand dollars to that; that certainly helps.”
The Roadrunner Scholarship Fund has set their most-ambitious goal in history this season, attempting to raise $600,000 for the student-athletes at CSUB.
“The partnership with Guarantee Shoe Center is going to really help us realize our goal of raising more money than ever for the Roadrunner Scholarship Fund,” said Kenneth ‘Ziggy’ Siegfried, Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations. "I want to encourage everyone to purchase their shoes at Guarantee Shoe Center and please remember to turn in your ticket when you check-out. Thank you to Rosco, his daughter Sara, and the entire Rolnick family for your dedication to CSUB Athletics and to the entire Bakersfield Community.”
Along with their partnership with the Roadrunner Scholarship Fund, Guarantee Shoe Center is also a new corporate sponsor of CSUB Athletics, signing an agreement with Nelligan Sports Marketing which includes facility signage and sponsorship within the Roadrunner Radio Network for basketball and baseball game broadcasts.
Guarantee Shoe Center was founded in 1953 by Rolnick’s grandfather Nat Slepyan and features name brand shoes, great customer service and community engagement including their annual ‘Shoes for the Homeless’ program where they have donated over 30,000 pairs of shoes to the Bakersfield Homeless Center over the last 15 years.
