On Campus 'Week of Welcome Edition'



Roadrunner Rundown, the official online television program of CSU Bakersfield Athletics completed a successful

special on-campus edition of the program on Tuesday, September 16 as part of the “Week of Welcome” festivities for students during the first week of classes at CSUB.

The program, which airs Tuesday’s from 10-11 AM on, stepped out of the studio for just the second time in its short history to make Tuesday’s broadcast a reality. The program was staged in front of the CSUB Student Union and was supported by the Office of Student Affairs and Student Involvement.

The special set featured several CSUB student-athletes and fans along with the Roadrunner wrestling team that set up mats outdoors and staged a workout in the background during the show. The Roadrunners Spirit Squads along with the mascot Rowdy were also part of the presentation.

Guests included CSUB President Dr. Horace Mitchell, interim athletic director Ziggy Siegfried, director of volleyball Giovana Melo, head men’s soccer coach Richie Grant and Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) President Derek Stotler.

“It was a great environment, with a great crowd,” said Corey Costelloe, assistant athletics director for communications and Roadrunner Rundown host. “I want to thank all the students and student-athletes for being on set along with the CSUB wrestling team and spirit squad for their great ideas in planning this show. It was a tremendous show and a big feather in the cap for our program.

Roadrunner Rundown airs as a partnership between CSUB Athletics and The Bakersfield Californian and The online channel through the newspaper features seven other weekly and daily programs along with live sports coverage. Roadrunner Rundown is in its second season since starting in August of 2013.

On this edition of 'Roadrunner Rundown, the official program of Bakersfield Roadrunner Athletics, we speak with CSUB SAAC President Lauren Kaufman, plus we talk academics with Dena Freeman-Patton, Melissa Bowen and Nadine Griffith plus our Dignity Health Student-Athlete profile featuring men's soccer senior Joe Masumiya.

Season Two, 9-2-14



On this edition of 'Roadrunner Rundown' we recap a busy weekend for our Fall sports including a couple big wins for men's soccer and volleyball.

Plus a new Dignity Health Student-Athlete profile with Sara Little from CSUB volleyball. Rachel Cook joins us from Bakersfield Life Magazine to talk about some CSUB content in their latest issue and preview some upcoming events in Bakersfield.

We take a special in-depth look at all 2014 CSUB Roadrunners Fall Sports with reports from men's and women's soccer, volleyball and cross country.

Season Two Premiere, 8-12-14


We start season 2 of Roadrunner Rundown with three great guests with great stories to tell.

Former point guard Issiah Grayson joins us to talk about his new professional contract in Italy as he starts the next phase of his basketball career.

Also, during the summer CSUB pitcher James Barragan spent six weeks on a missions trip to Papua, New Guinea. We'll speak to James about his adventure and his calling to serve others.

Finally, former KGET sports anchor Mark Haas who's covered the 'Runners for the last four years is moving on, we talk about his favorite CSUB moments in the last few years as well.

The new head coach for Bakersfield Roadrunners women's soccer was announced live Tuesday morning on 'Roadrunner Rundown,' the official TV program of CSUB Athletics. 

This marks the first time CSUB Athletics has used their multimedia platform to announce a coaching hire.

The show also includes highlights from the past week in Roadrunner Athletics and an interview with women'sbasketball head coach Greg McCall.

Episode 2 8-20-13


Highlights from the first week of CSUB soccer, plus we chat with Athletics Director Jeff Konya in the second segment. We preview the 2013 CSUB Volleyball season with head coach Jolene Shepardson in the third segment and in the final segment we sit down with Utah Jazz head coach Tyrone Corbin who's son Tyrell will be playing basketball for the Roadrunners this season.



Debut Episode- 8/13/13 

Roadrunner Rundown, the recently-revamped digital media program for Bakersfield Athletics premiered Tuesday to a record-setting live audience with more to follow on-demand.

The new show, created with a partnership between the Roadrunners and The Bakersfield Californian, is a completely HD video broadcast that includes multiple cameras, b roll and interview clips along with several other special segments throughout the hour-long program that airs live Tuesdays from 10-11 A.M. on The show is also archived and available on-demand on, the official website for CSUB Athletics.

The first program set a new benchmark for the program which was previously recorded as a radio broadcast and podcast on Itunes. During the first show, numbers showed nearly 900 visits to the site with over 500 unique visitors watching the program. The one-day numbers smashed the previous weekly-download numbers of the show when it was simply an audio podcast.

The debut program included interviews with men’s soccer head coach Simon Tobin who is entering his 27th season at the helm of the ‘Runners along with women’s head coach Melissa Phillips. Special segments of the program included “Corey Vs.” a segment in which host Corey Costelloe takes on CSUB student-athletes in various sports-challenges. This week he took penalty shots against and from women’s soccer players.

Meanwhile, recently-acquired Director of Golf Greg Osbourne debuted his  “Osbourne File” segment with an interview with his friend and Roadrunners supporter actor James Caan.
