BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Bakersfield men’s basketball  home schedule will feature 14 games in 2013-14  splitting time evenly between their on-campus and downtown arenas as they compete for the first time as a member of the Western Athletic Conference.

Wednesday’s release of the home schedule has the Roadrunners opening with a pair of games on campus at the Icardo Center on Monday, November 11 vs. UC Merced and on Wednesday, November 13 against Sacramento State. The other non-conference home games on campus include Idaho State (November 23) and another opponent still to be determined. The Roadrunners will play three Western Athletic Conference games at the Icardo Center as well when they host Chicago State (January 23), Kansas City (January 25) and Idaho (February 13).

Bakersfield will also play seven games at Rabobank Arena, the most dates the Roadrunners have had at the downtown venue since the 2010-11 season. The ‘Runners will open their downtown slate with a non-conference game against Nevada on November 11. They’ll also host Santa Clara in non-conference action on December 5.

CSUB will have five Western Athletic Conference games at Rabobank Arena including their first-ever home WAC game on January 4 when Bakersfield hosts Utah Valley. Other conference games at Rabobank Arena will be against Grand Canyon (January 9), Seattle (February 15), University of Texas-Pan American (February 27) and New Mexico State (March 3).

“I’m very pleased with our home schedule and the quality of opponents we have coming in to face us in Bakersfield,” said head men’s basketball coach Rod Barnes. “We have the luxury of playing in two quality venues and we expect plenty of support in both arenas as we play for the first time in the WAC.”

A full schedule with road games as well as tip off times is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.
