BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Bakersfield head women's soccer coach Melissa Phillips announced the 2013 schedule, the first for the Roadrunners in the Western Athletic Conference, June 17.

"Our schedule features an exciting slate of pre-season matches and highlighted with the Western Athletic Conference," said Phillips.

The Roadrunners will play school Division I record 11 home matches in 2013. Bakersfield opens the season with four straight home matches against Southern Utah (Aug. 23), Cal Poly (Aug. 25), Northern Arizona (Aug. 30), and Sacramento State (Sept. 1). The non-conference slate continues with matches at Portland State (Sept. 7) and UC Santa Barbara (Sept. 13) before concluding non-conference play at home against UC Riverside Sept. 15.

The inaugural WAC campaign gets underway with a home-and-home series against Utah Valley. The conference schedule continues over the month of October and the first week of November before culminating in the WAC Tournament Nov. 7-10 at New Mexico State.

"The conference schedule will be transformative to our program in many areas but especially motivation," Phillips said. "Our student-athletes are playing for much more than solely their desire to win. Our goal as a first year member (of the WAC) is to make an immediate impact. This is the oldest our team will be, still with only two seniors, and I am excited to see how our efforts over the last few years leading up to conference will translate."
