BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The Cincinnati Reds have chosen Bakersfield pitcher Scott Brattvet (Sr., Trabuco Canyon, Calif., Santa Ana College) in the eighth round (the 255th pick overall) of the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Brattvet, who worked out for the Reds last week in Cincinnati, went 9-1 with a 2.55 ERA in 98.2 innings in 2013. The 6-1 righty was chosen first team All-Conference after striking out 70 while walking 42. Opponents hit .251 against Brattvet in 15 starts.

Brattvet is the eighth Roadrunner to be drafted since the program was established in 2009. He is the highest Bakersfield player to go in the draft. Ryan McIntyre was chosen in the 12th round by the Miami Marlins.
