BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – After a solid season, CSU Bakersfield’s junior shortstop Shay Fryer (San Diego, Calif., University HS) has been named to the College Sports Madness 2012-2013 Pacific Coast Softball All-Conference Second Team, which was announced on Monday.

Fryer, who started all 49 games at shortstop for the Roadrunners this season, was one of CSUB’s best hitters. Batting in the third hole, Fryer posted a .351 average in PCSC games and also drove in a team-high 12 runs and hit a team-high seven doubles. Fryer also scored nine runs, hit one home run, stole two bases, walked twice and was hit by a pitch once in conference play.

Overall, she finished the season with a .309 batting average with 21 RBIs (CSUB’s best), 10 doubles (team best), 16 runs scored (second best), one triple and two homers. This is Fryer’s first time earning a Madness PCSC honor. Last season, CSUB’s left fielder/designated hitter Karissa Veiga (Jr., Hemet, Calif., Hemet HS) was named to the Madness PCSC first team.

The staff at College Sports Madness, a website dedicated to covering a wide range of college sports from all corners of the country, made the all-conference selections because these players have made significant contributions to their teams this past season.

BYU, the PCSC champion in its first season in the conference, took home the majority of the awards. CSUB finished in fourth place in the PCSC standings with a 10-14 conference record.

The official PCSC All-Conference Teams and honors will be announced on May 21. Check out the complete Madness PCSC honors below:
