BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Bakersfield's Oscar Sanay (Jr., Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista) was named Western Athletic Conference Batter of the Week for May 6-12.

Sanay led the Roadrunners to a 3-0 series sweep over Seattle U. Sanay hit .500 (6-for-12) on the week with six runs, five RBI, one walk and one stolen base. He opened the series by going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored against the Redhawks. In the middle game of the set, Sanay was 2-for-5 with two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Sanay concluded the series by going 2-for-3 with three runs scored, a walk and a sacrifice bunt.

Bakersfield travels to Cal Poly Tuesday night in the final non-conference game of the regular season. The Mustangs took a 10-5 all-time series lead Apr. 9 when Cal Poly defeated the Roadrunners 5-2.

Cal Poly dropped 2-of-3 games to No. 23 UC Irvine this past weekend. The Mustangs are 33-16 entering the week. Denver Chavez leads the team in hitting (.352). Brian Mundell (9) paces the squad in home runs. Nick Torres (36) is the team leader in RBI’s (36).

Casey Bloomquist, who earned the victory against the Roadrunners in Bakersfield Apr. 9, is the Tuesday night starter for Cal Poly. He is 4-1 with a 4.59 ERA. Bloomquist is scheduled to face Hayden Carter (So., San Diego, Calif., Vista HS) who is making his first start this season after 20 relief appearances. Carter is 2-2 with a 4.12 ERA.
