BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—Seven consecutive hits for Bakersfield (31-18, 14-7 WAC) in the bottom of the second led to eight runs as the Roadrunners handed Seattle U (19-29, 8-12 WAC) a 13-1 loss Friday night.

Bakersfield sent 13 batters to the plate during the second inning outburst. Jordie Hein battled back from an 0-2 count to drive in two runs with a single. Oscar Sanay (Jr., Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista HS) also drove in two runs during the inning. 

Jeff McKenzie (Sr., El Dorado Hills, Calif., San JoaquinDeltaCollege) won his 12th game (12-1) of the year, tying Vanderbilt’s Tyler Beede for the Division I lead. McKenzie struck out six, scattering six hits. McKenzie struck out eight, walked one, and picked off one runner. The lone run he gave up was unearned and he lowered his ERA to 1.76 on the season.

Hein was 2-for-4, driving in a career high four runs. Sanay had two hits, three RBI’s, and two runs scored. Mylz Jones (Fr., Palmdale, Calif., Paraclete HS) was 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored. Tyler Shryock (Jr., Tehachapi, Calif., Desert Christian HS) recorded two hits and a run scored. Frank Martinez (Sr., Riverside, Calif., East LA College) posted a 2-for-4 performance with two RBI’s.
