FRESNO, Calif.—Fresno State (15-27) scored six runs in the first three innings as the Bulldogs defeated Bakersfield (29-17) 7-4 Tuesday night at Bieden Field.
Cael Brockmeyer’s (Jr., Vineyard Haven, Mass., Avon Old Farms HS) RBI double in the top of the first gave Bakersfield the lead. Fresno State scored a pair in the bottom of the first for a 2-1 advantage. The Bulldogs put up four in the bottom of the third. Fresno State would add to the lead with one more in the fourth.
Oscar Sanay (Jr., Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista HS) hit his first career home run in the top of the seventh, a solo shot over the left field fence. Mylz Jones’ two-RBI single in the top of the ninth capped off the scoring for Bakersfield.
Aaron Judge, Jordan Luplow, and Trent Garrison each drove in two runs for the Bulldogs. Garrison and Brody Russell both tallied multiple hits (2) for Fresno State. Four of the Bulldog hitters that were walked came around to score. Sanay would end the night with two hits and three runs scored. Brockmeyer would also record two hits for the Roadrunners. The Roadrunners return to WAC play this weekend at Louisiana Tech. The series gets underway Friday at 4 p.m. (PDT).
