BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The CSU Bakersfield baseball team travels to UT Arlington this weekend. This trip marks the first of two scheduled trips that the Roadrunners (19-10, 4-2 WAC) are scheduled to make to the state of Texas this season (Texas State, Apr. 26-28 being the other). The WAC Tournament is scheduled to be played May 22-26 in Grand Prairie, Texas as well.

The Mavericks are tied with Texas State for the WAC lead (5-1) entering the weekend. UTA swept Louisiana Tech last weekend to improve to 15-12 overall. Matt Shortall leads UTA in hitting (.370), home runs (3), and RBI’s (30).

Arlington is scheduled to throw Brad Vachon (3-2) on Friday against Jeff McKenzie. Chase Weaver (2-0) faces Scott Brattvet on Saturday. Zach Thompson (3-2) goes up against Jonathan Montoya on Sunday.

McKenzie was selected WAC Pitcher of the Week for the third time in four weeks Apr. 1. McKenzie tossed his third complete game in his last four starts as CSU Bakersfield defeated New Mexico State 4-0 Mar. 28.

McKenzie allowed four hits, struck out nine, and picked off two Aggies at first base. McKenzie walked three as he faced 31 Aggies, four over the minimum. Since Mar. 1, McKenzie has given up two runs, one earned (35.2 innings pitched). The 6-0 lefty lowered his ERA to 1.17 on the season. He was also named CollegeSportsMadness WAC Player of the Week Apr. 1 as well.
