MONTEREY PARK, Calif.--The CSU Bakersfield men's swimming team broke two school records on day one of the MPSF Championships Wednesday.

The Roadrunner 800 free relay of Alex Daneke (R-Sr., Lodi, Calif., UC Davis), Gabriel Bertrand (So. Tibro, Sweden, Nykopingssimg Gymnasium), Mitchell Huxhold (So., Escondido, Calif., San Pasqual HS), and Dennis Cassidy (So. Whittier, Calif., La Serna HS) lowered the school mark in the event to 6:32.06 to place third. The old mark of 6:32.67 was set last season.

The 200 medley relay of Daneke , Joao Foresto (R-Sr., Marilia, Sao Paulo, Brazil, Cristol Rei HS, Dan Wickensheimer (Sr., Fort Wayne, Ind., Bakersfield Stockdale HS), and Mitch Wurm (Sr., Mesa, Ariz., Dobson HS) lowered the school record by posting a mark of 1:29.15 to break the 2011 school mark of 1:29.33. The team came in fifth in the race.

"Having these four guys, Alex Daneke, Joao Foresto, Dan Wickensheimer and Mitch Wurm start the meet off as seniors with a school record will set the tone of this meet," said CSUB director of swimming Chris Hansen. "It was really emotional for me to watch these four swim so well. I am so happy the way we started off tonight.  I hope all the newcomer see how these seven Upperclassman raced tonight."

The Roadrunners sit in fourth (60) after day one. UNLV (80) leads.

The MPSF Championships continue Thursday with preliminaries beginning at 10 a.m. and the finals getting underway at 6 p.m.
