BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The CSU Bakersfield women's basketball plays at the Univ. of New Orleans on Monday in the first of a pair of games against the Lady Privateers this season. The teams will play again Mar. 2 in Bakersfield.

The Lady Privateers are transitioning back to Division I after announcing plans to drop from D-1 to D-3 three years ago.  UNO is the other Division I school playing an independent schedule in 2012-13 before moving to the Sun Belt in 2013. The Lady Privateers are 2-18 after defeating Houston Baptist Saturday. Keri Thomas leads the team in scoring (14.2 ppg). The win broke a 16-game losing streak for UNO.

CSUB has won seven in a row dating back to a Jan. 3 loss to Fresno State. During the streak, CSUB is shooting 43.8% from the floor, compared to 36.8% for the entire season. Amber Williams (Sr., Fontana, Calif., Etiwanda HS) is averaging 22 points during the streak.

Williams moved to second in career scoring at CSU Bakersfield. She has scored 1,490 points and is 306 behind Katie McElree (1,796, 2002-06) who is the all-time leading scorer at CSUB. Williams is first Roadrunner to score all 1,000 career points at the Division I level.

Williams is now the school record holder for most made three-pointers in a career with 198. Diane DIttburner (191, 2001-03) held the previous mark. She also has broken Dittburner’s record (539) for career three point attempts with 570.
