BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The CSU Bakersfield wrestling team hits the road for a pair of Pac-12 duals against nationally ranked opponents.
Friday night, the Roadrunners (7-3, 1-1 Pac-12) travel to No. 24 Boise State for a 7 p.m. (MST) matchup. Friday’s dual is part of Boise State’s “Beauty and the Beast” promotion in which a Boise State gymnastics meet and the wrestling meet will be going on at the same time.
CSUB-BOISE: The Broncos lead the all-time series against CSUB 9-6. Boise State has won eight in a row in the series including a 27-12 decision last season in Bakersfield.
Boise State features five wrestlers ranked in the Amateur Wrestling News Division I College Rankings. Those five are No. 2 Jason Chamberlain (149), No. 10 Jake Swartz (184) No. 13 J.T. Felix (285), No. 15 Brian Owen (133) and No. 18 George Ivanov.
CSUB has a quick turnaround as the Roadrunners will head directly from Boise to Corvallis for a Saturday dual against No. 9 Oregon State. The dual will get underway at 7 p.m.
The Beavers lead the all-time series against CSUB 21-11. Oregon State has won four in a row in the series including a 45-4 decision last season in Bakersfield.
Like Boise, Oregon State has five wrestlers in the Amateur Wrestling News rankings in No. 3 Mike Mangrum (141), No. 4 Chad Hanke (285), No. 7 Taylor Meeks (197), No. 8 RJ Pena (157), and No. 10 Scott Sakaguchi (149).
