BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The CSU Bakersfield men's and women's swimming and diving teams travel to Loyola Marymount for dual competition Saturday. The action gets going at 12 p.m.
The Roadrunner women will take part in a tri-dual with Loyola Marymount and Cal Baptist. The CSUB men will take on Cal Baptist at the LMU pool.
"We have two more meets left Cal Baptist and last year's #1 team Cal Berkeley," said CSUB director of swimming Chris Hansen. "We are going into this meet with one agenda and that is to have a winning record for the fifth year in a row. We want to swim fast, dive great and win. We are four weeks out of the MPSF and this is part of our pre taper. Mitchell Huxhold, Gabriel Bertrand, and Alex Daneke have to continue to swim fast and fine tune their race strategy to get closer to their quest of making the NCAA tournament. This is also one of the last meets for our sprinters Fran Cverle, Mitch Wurm and Charles Yuhas to fight for MPSF relay spots. I expect out to see some breakout swims from some of younger swimmers."
"Like the men, our women's team is searching for a winning season," Hansen said. "We have already won more meets this year then in the last five years combined, but with three tough meets left we want a winning dual meet record, the first in many years. We beat LMU last week and they are going to want redemption. CBU has been tough in years past but I think we can cruise past them. We hope to have Michaela Paige and Lily Donohue back from some setbacks of injuries. I'm excited to see swimmers like Caitlyn Lozano and Mika Jensen swim, they have been getting faster every meet. This meet is also a great preparation for the WAC championship. This team has already made me so proud."
