CSUB's Kory Kindle Taken 25th in MLS SuperDraft
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--CSU Bakersfield midfielder Kory Kindle became the second Roadrunner men's soccer player to be taken in the MLS Superdraft Jan. 17.
Kindle went in the second round, 25th overall to the Colorado Rapids. Joe Munoz was selected by the New York/New Jersey Metrostars (now the New York Red Bulls) in the 1998 MLS Superdraft.
Kindle was chosen first team All-Conference as a senior after scoring six goals in 16 starts. Kindle earned second team All-Conference and All-Region honors as a junior after helping lead CSUB to a spot in the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament. An honorable mention All-Conference selection as a sophomore, Kindle earned Academic All-Conference honors three times. In 72 career matches as a Roadrunner, Kindle scored 13 goals and dished out six assists.
Kindle will join teammate Gyasi Zardes as a rookie in the MLS in 2013. Zarded signed a MLS Homegrown contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy Dec. 20.
Kindle and Zardes are the third and fourth CSUB players to play in the MLS. In addition to Munoz, goalie Josh Wicks played for the Galaxy from 2008-09. The Roadrunners open WAC play in the Fall of 2013.
