IRVINE, Calif.--Amber Williams (Sr., Fontana, Calif., Etiwanda HS) scored 23 points to lead CSU Bakersfield past UC Irvine 71-64 Sunday afternoon at the Bren Events Center.

Williams was 7-of-16 from the field and 7-of-10 from the free throw line to pace the Roadrunners. CSUB led by as much as 11 in the second half, but the Anteaters rallied back tying the score at 58 with 3:11 remaining.

Ciarra Ford (Sr., Long Beach, Calif., Mt. Sac College) sank a three-pointer at 2:47 to put the Roadrunners on top for good. Following a UCI free throw by Jennifer Tsurumoto, the Roadrunners scored the next seven points to open a 68-59 lead with 56 seconds remaining. UCI would get as close as five (69-62) on a layup by Anete Klintsone with 16 seconds left.

Tyonna Outland (R-So., Compton, Calif., Lynwood HS) added 17 points for CSUB. Camille Buckley led UCI with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Rebounding and free throw shooting were keys for the Roadrunners. CSUB outrebounded the Anteaters 37-31 and held a 33-24 advantage in free throw attempts. The Roadrunners were 25-of-33 from the charity stripe, 75.8% compared to 66.7% (16-of-24) for UCI.

The teams will meet again Dec. 28 in Bakersfield. CSUB travels to Air Force next Thursday for a 7 p.m. (MST) start)
