BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--CSU Bakersfield (3-1) returns home Sunday to host San Francisco State (0-0) in a wrestling dual beginning at 2 p.m. Based on popular demand, the dual will be wrestled in CSUB’s Physical Education Building, the “Old Gym”.

The Gators are wrestling in their first dual of the season after three open tournaments. San Francisco State has two nationally ranked wrestlers (at Division II level) in 141-pounder Navaeed Bagheri (#5) and 165-pounder Isaiah Jimenez (#6). The Gators defeated the Roadrunners 20-16 last season in San Francisco, marking the first time since 1975 that San Francisco State had defeated CSUB. CSUB leads the all-time series 34-3.

Three CSUB wrestlers are nationally ranked entering this weekend’s action. Tyler Iwamura (R-Sr., 125, San Diego, Calif., Santa Fe Christian HS) is ranked 18th by D1collegewrestling.net and 33rd by The Gregg Henry Wrestling Report.

Ian Nickell (R-Fr., 133, Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield HS) is ranked in five polls. He is ranked 16th by the Amateur Wrestling News, 17th by D1collegewrestling.net, 18th by WIN Magazine, 20th by Intermat, and 25th by The Gregg Henry Wrestling Report. Bryce Hammond (R-Fr., 174, Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield HS) is ranked in four polls. He is ranked 15th by The Gregg Henry Wrestling Report, 18th by the Amateur Wrestling News, 19th by D1collegewrestling.net, and 20th by Intermat.
