BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The CSU Bakersfield women's basketball team hosts No. 11 California Friday night before traveling to UC Irvine Sunday.

California is ranked 11th in the AP poll and 11th in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25.  This is the first time that a nationally ranked opponent is traveling to Bakersfield to play in the Icardo Center since CSUB made the transition to Division I. 

The Bears defeated the Roadrunners 86-56 in the first ever meeting between the two school in women’s basketball Dec. 3, 2011 in Berkeley. Four of the five Bears’ starters average in double figures with redshirt junior forward Gennifer Brandon posting a double-double of 13.3 points and 11.4 rebounds per game this season.

The Anteaters dropped a 73-55 decision to Idaho Thursday night to fall to 2-6 on the season. Jennifer Tsurumoto leads UC Irvine in scoring at 11.1 ppg clip. The Roadrunners lead the all-time series against the Anteaters 6-1. CSUB defeated UCI 104-92 last season in Bakersfield.  Irvine travels to Bakersfield Dec. 28 to complete the home and home series.
