MBB: C'mon Larry Night vs. Westmont on Tuesday
BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- Following their second home loss of the season by three or fewer points, Roadrunner men's basketball returns Tuesday to the Icardo Center hosting Westmont College at 7 P.M. CSUB (0-4) is also looking to get into the win column for the first time this season as the 8th-ranked team in the NAIA comes to town.
Westmont is 4-1 entering Tuesday's game and is coming off a 67-61 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday night. The Warriors defeated Division II Cal State San Bernardino 97-90 last week prior to their only loss of the season, an 81-79 setback at Pomona-Pitzer on Nov. 17.
The Roadrunners meanwhile are coming off their best offensive game of the season despite the 76-73 loss to Loyola Marymount Saturday night. The 'Runners were led by Stephon Carter's(Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Garces HS) 22 points and a season-high four players in double figures. CSUB shot a season-best 50% from the field (26-52) and 41% from three-point range (10-24).
"We've got a rough road, it's like I told our guys, it doesn't get any easier," said head coach Rod Barnes following Saturday's game. "We've got to where we can compete, now we just have to get where we can win these games."
Tuesday night is also "C'mon Larry Night" in honor of the CSUB student section's unique way of interacting with game officials. The first 500 students receive a "C'mon Larry" t shirt and any person named Larry receives free admission to the game as well.
