LONG BEACH, Calif.--Freshman Michaela Paige (Lompoc, Calif., Cabrillo HS) broke her second school record the weekend at the Arena Invitational on the final day of competition Saturday.

Paige went 2:03.05 in the 200 butterfly preliminaries to lower her own school mark. In the finals, Paige came in 12th.

"Michaela Paige swam a lot of tough events this week, and swam all personal best times," said CSUB director of swimming Chris Hansen. "She is someone to watch once she tapers and shaves.  In three months she has already become one of the best swimmers CSUB has ever seen."

Delise Batiza (So., San Ramon, Calif., Oregon State) finished 15th in the 1650 freestyle in the third quickest time in school history, 17:28.47. He 1000 split of 10:28.75 was also the third fastest in school history.

The 400 free relay of Paige, Ali Gillespie (Huntington Beach, Calif., Oregon State), Lauren Kaufman (So., Renton, Wash., TCU), and Christy Vo (Fr., Portland, Ore., Reynolds HS) placed 12th (3:30.59).

"We had another great day," Hansen said. "Besides Michaela and Delise scoring big points for us, we saw great swims from Jodi Hanson, Ali Gillespie, Lauren Kaufman, Chrisy Vo and Jeanette Dove. Paige, Gillespie, Kaufman ,Vo - swam a great 400 free relay, with a fast lead off from Michaela -  52.26.  There are eight girls that can be on this relay in February.  They will have to fight.  Nicolette Goncalves lead off the B relay in a 52.20 for our second fastest of the year."

As a team CSUB finished 12th (204). Cal won the team race (1168.5). The Roadrunners are scheduled to compete at the US Nationals Nov. 29-Dec. 1.
