LONG BEACH, Calif.--The 800 free relay of Michaela Paige (Fr., Lompoc, Calif., Cabrillo HS), Ali Gillespie (So., Huntington Beach, Calif., Oregon State), Kelsey Lange (Fr., San Jose, Calif., Santa Teresa HS), and Delise Batiza (So. San Ramon, Calif., Oregon State) broke the school record in the event to highlight CSU Bakersfield women's action on day two of the Arena Invitational Friday.

The 800 free relay swam a time of 7:34.25, lowering the school mark by over three seconds. The team finished ninth in the event.

The 200 medley relay of Jeanette Dove (Jr., Fontana, Calif., UC Santa Cruz), Jodi Hanson (R-Sr., Modesto, Calif., Johansen HS), Nicolette Goncalves (Fr., Mississauga, Ontario, Erindale Secondary School), Gillespie registered the second fastest time in school history, 1:45.59, to placed 12th overall. 

Paige recorded the third fastest time (1:50.11) in school history in the finals of the 200 freestyle to finish 15th Goncalves reached the top-five in school history in the 100 butterfly when she swam :56.45 (the fifth fastest) in the non-scoring final of the event. Batiza posted the fourth fastest 400 IM in school history, 4:34.54, during the preliminaries of the race.

"Our team is not shaved or rested and they are rewriting the all time top five list and that is exciting for the future of this team," said CSUB director of swimming Chris Hansen. "Michaela, Delise and Nicolette have been showing up to swim fast every session. Michaela has been really impressive not just as a freshman but as swimmer. I can not wait to see all three of these ladies swim the 200 fly tomorrow."

The Arena Invitational concludes Saturday. Prelims are set for 9 a.m. with the finals beginning at 6 p.m.
