BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--CSU Bakersfield takes on Northern Arizona Monday night in the first road game of the women's basketball season in Flagstaff.
The Roadrunners defeated Northern Arizona 86-77 Feb. 19, 2012 in the first ever meeting between the two schools in women’s basketball. The Lumberjacks lost their season opener to New Mexico 68-57 Nov. 9. Amy Patton scored 33 of the 57 NAU points on 12-of-25 shooting. She played all 40 minutes, adding five rebounds, four steals, and three assists.
Arizona used a 12-1 run to start the second half as the Wildcats defeated CSU Bakersfield 71-50 in the 2012-13 season opener for both schools Friday night. Arizona held the Roadrunners to 27.3% shooting for the game and nine CSUB field goals in each half. The Wildcats outrebounded CSU Bakersfield 62-41. Both teams were sloppy with the ball, combining for 51 turnovers (26 for CSUB, 25 for Arizona).
CSUB was led by Tyonna Outland (R-So., Compton, Calif., Lynwood HS) who made her return from ACL surgery on her left knee by scoring a team high 13 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Janae Coffee (R-So., Fresno, Calif., Long Beach State) scored 12 points, nabbed nine rebounds, and blocked two shots.
