NIPOMO, Calif.--The CSU Bakersfield men's and women's golf teams were in action Monday at the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational at the Monarch Dunes Golf Course.

Both teams were scheduled to play 36 holes Monday, but play was suspended due to darkness with all players still on the course with three or four holes to go. The second round will be completed Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., with the final round to follow at about 10:30 a.m.

Malea Miller (Jr. Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield College) turned in a 75 to tie for fifth with four others over the first 18 holes. Sacramento State's Lisa Persson posted a 71 in the opening session to take in the individual lead. As a team, the Roadrunners are in sixth (321) after round one with the host, Cal Poly leading the way (300).

Patrick Bell (Sr. Manchester, England, Reedley College) was the top CSUB men's player as Bell tied for 18th with nine other players. Bell shot a 73. The Roadrunners are in 10th (303) as Cal State Northridge (284) leads team play. Three golfers; UCLA's Preston Valder and Jake Knapp as well as Biola's Joshua Mathis are in the lead as the trio shot 65.
