BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The CSU Bakersfield volleyball team went on the offensive on Sunday against Bucknell as the Roadrunners defeated the Bison 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-16) at the Icardo Center.

With the win, CSUB (8-10) improved to 5-2 on its home court this season.

Bucknell (6-13) jumped out to a 13-4 lead in the first match before the 'Runners stole the momentum with an even bigger run of their own. They turned up the heat and went on a 17-3 rally en route to a 25-20 win. CSUB kept the pressure on throughout and never looked back. Junior middle blocker Julia Bowen (Ottawa, Ontario, Wilfrid Lauer Univ.) closed out the showdown with an ace for match point.

Junior outside hitter Debora Araujo (Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Western Nebraska C.C.) once again led the 'Runners in kills with 17 while also adding seven digs. Shayna Guitare (Torrance, Calif., Los Angeles Pierce College) recorded 11 kills.

Junior setterb Fernanda Gonçalves posted 32 assists and libero Mariah Alvidrez (R-So., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) tallied 16 digs.

With the win, the 'Runners managed to go 1-1 on their weekend homestand after a 3-1 loss to Boise State on Saturday night.

CSUB has now matched its win total from the 2011 season and there are still 12 matches remaining on the schedule this season. The 3-0 sweep was the second of the season for CSUB, who defeated Norfolk State 3-0 on Sept. 15.

Up next, CSUB will hit the road to play a two-match series at Alabama State Oct. 13-14.
