After an impressive season-opening performance at the Boise State Dash Thomas Memorial Sept. 24-25, the CSU Bakersfield men's golf team will be looking to piece together more low rounds on Monday and Tuesday in the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational.

CSUB senior Patrick Bell is coming off his best tournament as a Roadrunner at the Dash Thomas Memorial, when he took runner-up honors on the individual leaderboard. After shooting rounds of 75 and 68 on the first day of the tournament, he posted a 65 to jump up 13 places and finish in second.

As a team, the Roadrunners got better in each round with a 302, 291 and then a 285 to finish with a 878 to take ninth place out of 13 teams.

"We are looking forward to the Cal Poly Invitational since we got better each round at our last tournament in Boise," said CSUB head coach Dave Barber. "We are hoping Patrick Bell can back up that 68, 65, he shot the last two rounds at Boise. It is great seeing out players shooting those under par rounds."

The three-round, two-day tournament, which features 11 men's teams, will be played at Monarch Dunes Golf Course in Nipomo, Calif. Action will begin with a shotgun start at 8:50 a.m. on both days with two rounds being held on Monday and the final 18 holes slated for Tuesday.The  par-70 course measures 6,759 yards for men.

The field includes Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, UCLA, UC Riverside, Cal State Northridge, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, La Verne, Seattle and Biola.

Teams will tee off with a shotgun start at 8:50 a.m. Monday, with the second round to follow. Final round is scheduled for Tuesday morning. The course measures 6,759 yards for men and 6,007 yards for women. Par is 70 for men and 71 for women.
