BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The CSUB Athletics Fall BBQ is turning 34 this year as the annual event takes place Thursday, October 11 from 5:30-9pm at the Icardo Center.
As has been the case with the last few events, Harris Ranch NY Steaks are on the menu along with the choice of teriyaki chicken and other fixings provided by longtime supporters of CSUB Athletics.
Over 2,000 people are expected to attend the event which helps raise money for the 'Roadrunner Scholarship Fund.' CSUB Athletics is required to privately fund raise for student-athlete scholarships and the Fall BBQ is one of the major events that help pull in the necessary resources for a student-athletes education.
"It's a great night to come out and support CSUB and the Roadrunner Scholarship Fund," said Associate Athletics Director for Special Events Mark Mayes. "A lot of people that come year-to-year see friends that they normally don't see unless the come to the barbecue, it's a great social event."
The band 'Luckystiff' will once again provide live music for the crowd on the main stage. The band played the Spring BBQ and has also provided in-game entertainment for CSUB at Rabobank Arena last season. DJ Wreck and fellow mixers from Hot 94.1 will provide music on the south side of the Icardo Center during the night as well.
Performances by the CSUB Cheerleaders and the 'Runner Girls dance team will also highlight the evening which is sponsored by Bill Wright Toyota, North Bakersfield Toyota-Scion and Southern California Orthopedic Institute.
