BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Roadrunner track and field teams will head to Southern California, Mar. 16-18, for the Northridge Invitational hosted by CSUN. The first two days of competition with feature the multi-events for one ‘Runner while the rest of CSU Bakersfield’s track teams will compete all day on Saturday.
For the 'Runner men, freshman Nick Zandes will make his collegiate decathlon debut on Thursday and Friday to open the meet for CSUB. Junior Alec Beneavides will compete in the javelin on Saturday after opening the season just five feet shy of his lifetime best in the event.
Junior Tristan Watson had the best opening meet of his career two weeks ago and will compete in the 110m hurdles and 200m dash. Curt Threlkeld will compete in the 800m while All-Conference jumpers, Joselito Flores, Justin McKinley, and Tim Van Horn will tackle the high jump.
On the women’s side, freshman Falon Wilson will compete in the 100m and 100m hurdles events, in which she had a very solid opening meet two weeks ago. Fellow freshman Julianne Finch will compete in the pole vault where she began to improve two weeks ago after a disappointing WAC indoor meet.
Rounding out the expected top performers at the CSUN meet will be redshirt senior Marina Emhoff, who will compete in her first outdoor 400m race of the season.
The Roadrunners will join a large field of student-athletes in Northridge for the meet. For more information on the Northridge Invitational as well as a full schedule of events, visit this link.
