GREELEY, Colo.--Garrett Pierce (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Centennial HS) went 3-for-4 with two RBI's and two runs scored as Bakersfield defeated Northern Colorado 7-3 in the WAC series opener Friday afternoon.

Roadrunner pitcher Taylor Aikenhead (Sr., Lancaster, Calif., Bakersfield College) posted his third complete game of the season as he won his team leading sixth game. The Bears led 1-0 after two before CSUB tied it on a Max Carter (Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., Stockdale HS) RBI single in the third.

RBI's from Ross Hough (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Central Arizona College) and Jordie Hein (Jr., Scottsdale, Ariz., Chapparal HS) in the top of the fifth gave the 'Runners the lead. A Pierce RBI double in the sixth made it 4-1. Northern Colorado cut it to 4-3 in the seventh when Ben Netzel homered and Landon Moseley charted an RBI single.

The Bears had the go-ahead run at the plate with runners on first and second and one out in the seventh in the form of Ryan Yamane. Down in the count 1-0, Aikenhead got Yamane to ground into an inning-ending double play.  CSUB responded with three runs in the top of the eighth to cap off the scoring.

Carter was 2-for-5 with two RBI's. Mylz Jones (So., Palmdale, Calif., Paraclete HS) went 2-for-4. Aikenhead scattered 10 Bears' hits, getting his first 1-2-3 inning of the inning in the bottom of the ninth. He struck out six and walked two.
