Blustery Conditions at Hiddenbrooke Intercollegiate

 

VALLEJO, Calif. ? High winds affected scores across the board Saturday during the opening round of the Hiddenbrooke Intercollegiate Golf Tournament, hosted by Drake University. Just five of 102 golfers shot in the 70's on the 6,005 yard, 72-par course.  Through one complete round, the CSUB women's golf team shot a 357, good for a tie of 14th place out of 18 teams.

Jennifer Beggs and Meggan Bellows tied for the low score of the day for the Roadrunners, both carding an 87, putting them in a tie for 47th overall.

Jenna Barnett shot a 90, good for a tie of 64th place. Jennifer Davison sits in a tie for 79th place after shooting a 93 and Ashley Neal is in a tie for 95th after a first-round 95.

Central Arkansas leads the team scoring with a +33 321. Northern Arizona is in second with a 325, Wyoming is in third (327), Lamar is in fourth (328) and host Drake and Old Dominion are tied for fifth (333).

Nicole Forshner of Central Arkansas shot the overall low round of the day, carding a +2 74. Drake's Olivia Lansing and Old Dominion's Laura Holms are tied for second after each shooting a 78.

Day two of competition at the Hiddenbrooke Intercollegiate begins at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
