SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield’s two male representatives closed out the Distance Carnival hosted by San Francisco State on Saturday. Each of the Roadrunners ran their second-best times of the season in their respective events.

Redshirt sophomore Gabe Gaeta finished fifth in his heat of the 400-meter hurdles, but sixth overall. The native of Bakersfield posted a time of 54.34, just over a tenth of a second off of his personal best time.

Freshman Curt Threlkeld competed in the 800m race for the fourth time this season and placed fourth in his heat. The Bakersfield native finished the race in 1:53.82, less than a second behind his PR set two weeks ago at Northridge. Threlkeld finished 18th overall among 98 athletes.

After just a select group of Roadrunners competed at the Distance Carnival this weekend, the rest of CSU Bakersfield’s track and field teams will get back to competition next weekend. Some of the ‘Runners will be headed to the Sam Adams Combined Events hosted by Westmont College, Apr. 7-8. The bulk of CSUB’s student-athletes will compete at the annual Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Apr. 8.
