SAN JOSE, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield’s women’s golf team wrapped up the Santa Clara Colby Invitational with a final round of golf on Tuesday. The Roadrunners finished the tournament with their second-best single-round score of the week (329).

“Ariel played a really consistent tournament and Tori played a solid final round today,” said Meghan Thomason, CSUB’s Director of Golf. “This golf course exposed our physical and mental weaknesses, that’s for certain. Luckily, we have a long offseason to address some of the issues that have been frequently recurring throughout the fall.”

Junior Ariel Lee posted 79s in each of her final two rounds to improve upon first-round score of 81. The native of Singapore’s two-day total of 239 (+23) led the ‘Runners and was just a few strokes outside of CSUB’s Top 10 all-time list for 54-hole individual tournament scores. Lee finished 20th overall in the 43-woman field.

Fellow junior Tori Peers led the ‘Runners into the clubhouse with a CSUB-best third-round score of 76 (+4). Peers’ card on Tuesday was also CSUB’s lowest of the tournament as the native of Grand Island, Neb. finished the tournament second overall for the ‘Runners, just one stroke behind Lee.

Finishing third for the ‘Runners this week was senior Chandler Bullman, who posted an 85 on Tuesday to finish at 252. Freshman Macey Mills’ 89 in the final round was in the ‘Runner scoring four and her three-round total of 254 was fourth for CSUB. Junior Julia Stewart wrapped up the tournament fifth for CSUB with a 54-hole score of 260.

As a squad, the ‘Runners finished the tournament with a three-round total of 983 strokes. CSUN’s Cake Phuchanbanchob was the individual champion at 223 (+7) while host Santa Clara held on to a two-stroke lead to be the team champion (916).

CSUB’s women’s golf squad has wrapped up its fall season and will take the winter break to fine tune before returning to competitive action in February. The ‘Runners are scheduled to begin the spring season Feb. 7 in Simi Valley, Calif. in a dual against CSUN.
