BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield’s men’s golf team wrapped up its own CSUB Roadrunner Invitational by holding steady in third place on Tuesday. The ‘Runners were led by a trio of players who finished in a three-way tie as CSUB's leaders.

“I thought it went well this week,” said Meggan Bunker, Head Coach of the ‘Runners. “It was a fun tournament and it was great for the guys to be able to play at home and have their families and all of our staff from CSUB come out. I think it turned out great.”

Junior Nathan Green, senior Izzad Ibrahim, and freshman Dominick Hoover finished tied as the ‘Runner leaders in the tournament with identical scores of 229 (+13). The trio finished tied for eighth overall on the individual leaderboard.

“We played great and were still consistent like we were last year,” Bunker said. “We have so much room for improvement and so much potential. We’re looking forward to improving and working on our game before going to Fresno next week.”

Green and Ibrahim were the low scorers in the final round for CSUB at 76 (+4). Hoover was one stroke behind on Tuesday morning while freshman Warren Miller rounded out the ‘Runner scoring four (79). CSUB finished third of four teams with a 54-hole team score of 919.

UC Riverside held off fellow Western Athletic Conference member UT Rio Grande Valley to claim the team title with a three-round score of 874. The Highlanders’ Sam Gillis took the individual crown after shooting a three-under 213 on the week.

The ‘Runners will return to action Oct. 3-4 at the Nick Watney Invitational hosted by Fresno State. The two-day tournament will take place at Fresno’s San Joaquin Country Club.
