LUBBOCK, Texas--Bakersfield's Tyler Shryock (Jr., Tehachapi, Calif., Desert Christian HS) has advanced to the Newest Wallace Award Watch List released May 19.
The Brooks Wallace Award, sponsored by Mizuno, recognizes the nation's top shortstop and will be presented during the College Baseball Hall of Fame's Night of Champions on June 29 in Lubbock, Texas.
Shryock, the lone WAC representative, ended the regular season in the top 15 in Division I in hits with 85. He leads the Roadrunners in hitting with a .363 batting average. He has posted 26 RBI's, 11 doubles, and three triples. Shryock leads the 'Runners with 178 assists.
"These guys have put up great numbers all season," said Darby Brown, Wallace Award co-chair. "We have followed them closely all season and the consistency they play with is impressive."
Bakersfield opens the WAC Tournament Wednesday at 3 p.m. (CDT) against San Jose State.
