BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Bakersfield director of swimming Chris Hansen has announced the signing of six women's swimmers to National Letters of Intent.
"We are excited to sign these six ladies our Roadrunner family," Hansen said. "The team and I are pumped to enter the WAC for our second season with a much stronger team then we had this year. Our full roster and schedule will be announced in a couple of weeks. This is going to be our biggest team in many years. The WAC is going to see a surge in CSUB Swimming and Diving."
Jacelyn Youngerman, Cypress, Calif. (Cypress College coach Larry Beidler)
"Jacelyn comes to CSUB with the fastest 50 free (23.40) on the team," said Hansen. "She had an amazing Junior College Championship this past April where she won the state title in the 50 free. She also swam a 51.83 in the 100 free and finished second in the 100 free at the state junior college meet. “I am excited to get Jacelyn into our sprint program. I really think she is going to be much faster."
Paola Hernandez, Lompoc, Calif. (Santa Maria Swim Club, coach Mike Ashmore)
"Paola comes to CSUB with a lot of versatility," Hansen said. "Her times in the 200 Free (1:51.23), 200 back (2:04.92), 100 Free (51.56), 100 back (57.07) all rank her in the top 3 next year. She can also swim the fly, IM and mid distance free events. Paola had an amazing Junior Nationals last February; she swam many events and had many best times. Paola can be a big part of not only our relays but how high we can place at the WAC Championships. She is going to be a big player for the women."
Lucy Sanderson, London, England (Real Bridge Swim Club, coach Paul Robbins).
"Lucy comes to CSUB with the teams fastest 100 Fly time of 56.08," said Hansen. "She also swims the 200 Fly (2:03.96) and both backstroke events. The trio of Lucy, Michaela Paige and Nicolette Goncalves makes for a very strong fly group. Lucy is going to bring much needed experience to this very young team; we are excited to have her become a 'Runner.”
Dylana Milobar, Kamloops B.C. (Kamloops Classic Swimming Club, coach Brad Dalke).
"Dylana is coming off some very big meets the past two summers, the 2012 Canadian Olympic and 2013 World trials," Hansen said. "Dylana comes to CSUB as our fastest 100 Breaststroker (1:04.34). She has also been 2:23.56 in the 200 Breast. Dylana comes to CSUB just in time to help fill in a much needed gap from last year. Our breaststroke events went from being our week spot to now being one of our best events. Dylana and early signer Sara Christiansen are going to dominate the breast events for us this year.
Melissa Gore, Taft, Calif. (coach Jordan Miller)
"Melissa comes to CSUB with an extensive diving background," said Bakersfield Diving Coach Tyler Dorshort. “I am extremely excited to Melissa come join our family, she is going to do great things for CSUB. I expect to shine at the WAC Championships in the platform events"
Carlee Bucks, Bakersfield, Calif. (Centennial High School, Roadunner Aquatics, coach Larry Everingham).
"Carlee was one of the top diving recruits in the state of California," Dorshort said. "She has experience in both springboards and the platform. She is going to be a huge reason why this diving program is going to take off."
