BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Bakersfield (31-18, 14-7 WAC) hosts its final home baseball series this weekend when Seattle U comes to Hardt Field this weekend.
This is the first time the Roadrunners and the Redhawks are playing in baseball. Seattle U is 19-29 after losing 7-2 to Washington Tuesday night. The Redhawks are in eighth in the WAC (8-12), one game ahead of San Jose State and one game behind UTSA.
Nate Roberts is eighth in the WAC in runs batted in with 41, tied for eighth in doubles with 13, and tied for eighth in times hit by a pitch with 10.
Friday night starter, Andrew Olson, is tied for sixth in the WAC wins with six and is ninth in earned run average with a 3.71 ERA. Olson will face Jeff McKenzie. Saturday's starter Garrett Anderson is 2-7 with a 4.92 ERA. Anderson matches up with Scott Brattvet. Sunday's starter is to be determined. CSUB will send Jonathan Montoya to the bump on Senior Day.
McKenzie earned his fourth WAC Pitcher of the Week honor May 6. He recorded his fourth complete game shutotut of the year to lead the Roadrunners past Louisiana Tech May 3. McKenzie scattered three hits as he struck out five while only walking one. He faced only four over the minimum and allowed only one runner to reach second base.
Bakersfield holds a one-game lead in the WAC race over UT Arlington and Texas State. The Mavericks host the Bobcats this weekend.
