Now officially
in the past the midway point of the season, the CSU Bakersfield cross country
team will be running in the Triton Cross Country Classic Invitational on
Saturday as one of its last two regular season meets of 2012.
The meet, which
will be hosted by UC San Diego and held at the North Campus Course in La Jolla,
Calif., will be a 6K race. It will begin at 9:45 a.m.
"We have had a
lot of success on the course in the past and good performances the last few
weeks," said CSUB head coach Ashley Benson. "We are looking forward to
continuing to move in the right direction with the Great West Conference
Championship and NCAA West Regionals fast approaching."
After the Triton
Classic, the 'Runners will be racing in the Northridge Invitational on Oct. 13
in their final regular-season meet of the season. CSUB will then head to
Chicago, Ill. to run in its first-ever GWC Championship meet on Oct. 27. NCAA
Regional will be held in Seattle, Wash., on Nov. 9.
The Triton
Classic will feature a talented women's field of Division I schools like
Pacific, San Diego State, UNLV, CSUB, Cal State Northridge, Loyola Marymount
and UC Irvine as well as top-tier NAIA and Division II programs.
