CLEVELAND, Ohio,--CSU Bakersfield Athletics has been named one of three
finalists for the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA)
'Marketing Team of the Year' presented by row 27. The winner will be announced
at the NACMA Convention June 26th in Dallas, Tex.
"We
are very pleased with initial response to the MTOYA and had some very
impressive candidates, but these three finalists really stood out," said
NACMA President Jamie DiLoreto, associate athletics director - external
operations at Boston College. "All nominations exemplified the group
efforts required to be successful in collegiate marketing which is something
all should be proud of. We hope the submissions continue to grow
throughout the years, as the completed nomination would double as a valuable
piece to summarize the collaborative successes of your department and present
to your athletics director."
At the
root of CSUB Athletics' work was 'The New Gold Standard' campaign, which was
developed in August of 2011 and included a comprehensive approach to re-brand
the program. Everything from uniforms, color schemes, facilities, television
and radio commercials, print ads along with online and social media were used
in the execution of the new approach to Roadrunner Athletics.
"We know
'The New Gold Standard' marketing campaign has resonated locally with the
feedback and response we've received from fans but having it recognized
nationally is a completely different scale," said CSUB Athletic Director Jeff
Konya. "Our marketing staff and budget is very streamlined so the items we produce
need to be impactful and I think this nomination is proof that they are working"
CSUB
Athletics is the only Division-1 non-football playing institution to be named a
finalist for the award. They are joined by Iowa State and Texas-San Antonio.
The
selection committee was made up of NACMA Past Presidents, as well as 2 NACDA
Past Presidents.
