CSUB Hosts UC Riverside Wednesday Night

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-CSU Bakersfield (3-18) hosts UC Riverside (2-15) on the final night of a five-game homestand Wednesday in the Icardo Center. The Highlanders defeated the Roadrunners 76-62 Nov. 19 in Riverside. This is the sixth meeting between CSUB and UC Riverside in women's basketball. The Highlanders lead the all-time series 4-1.

The Highlanders have lost eight in a row since a Dec. 15 victory over the University Idaho. UC Riverside is 2-15 overall. TreShont Nottingham is UCR's leading scorer at 14.1 points per game. Natasha Hadley is averaging 12.2 points per game for the Highlanders.

Cal State Fullerton (8-8) went to the boards to defeat CSU Bakersfield as the Titans defeated the Roadrunners 67-58 Saturday afternoon in the Icardo Center.

Cal State Fullerton outrebounded CSUB 56-23, 27-8 on the offensive glass. Fullerton's Mya Olivier posted a career high 17 rebounds to go along with a career high 21 points to pace the Titans.  Kathleen Iwuoha pulled in a career high 10 rebounds as she recorded a double-double with 10 points.

“They outrebounded us on the inside again,” said CSUB head coach Greg McCall. “We just can't stop the ball from going inside. We have to do a better job of rebounding. They had 27 offensive rebounds and 56 total to our 23. They had more offensive rebounds that we did as a whole team combined. We can't win games like that. We did what we needed to do on the perimeter, just not on the interior. We gotta get stops on the inside and we gotta stop the offensive rebounds.”

Ciarra Ford (Jr., Long Beach, Calif., Mt. Sac College) scored 17 points to lead the Roadrunners. The 5-8 guard also charted four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Amber Williams (Jr., Fontana, Calif., Eitwanda HS) scored 14 points and had four steals. Kristine Herman (R-Sr., San Ramon, Calif., Florida Gulf Coast) scored 13 points.
