CSUB Hosts Cal State Fullerton Saturday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-CSU Bakersfield (3-17) hosts Cal State Fullerton (7-8) in women's basketball action Saturday afternoon in the Icardo Center. Saturday's game marks the third consecutive CSUB men and women's basketball doubleheader as the Roadrunner men take on the Titan men Saturday night at 7 p.m.

This is the sixth meeting between CSUB and Cal State Fullerton in women's basketball. The Roadrunners lead the all-time series 3-2. Megan Richardson leads the Titans with a 17.1 points per game average. Mya Oliver is second on the team in scoring (8.2) and leads the team in rebounding (7.8).

Lauren Carter (R-Jr., Moorpark, Calif., Moorpark HS) put up a career-high 24 points, but it wasn't enough to lift the CSU Bakersfield women's basketball team to a victory on Tuesday night as the Roadrunners fell 85-76 to Nevada at the Icardo Center. CSUB's 6-foot-1 forward did her best in holding the inside ground for the short-handed 'Runners, but the Wolfpack outscored CSUB 66-30 in the paint.

Nevada outrebounded CSUB 43-29, but the 'Runners held the advantage on the offensive glass (18-9). The 'Runners also took better care of the ball, only committing 10 turnovers compared to 22 by the Wolfpack. Led by Carter, who netted 12 of her points at the free-throw line, CSUB fought back to tie Nevada at 68-all with less than eight minutes left in the contest. The Wolfpack then went on a 7-1 run over the next three minutes to pull away and the 'Runners (3-17) never got closer than seven for the remainder of the game.

Kristine Herman (R-Sr., San Ramon, Calif., Florida Gulf Coast) added 16 points and seven rebounds for CSUB, including two 3-pointers, while Ciarra Ford (Jr., Long Beach, Calif., Mt Sac College) finished with 14 points and six assists and Amber Williams (Jr., Fontana, Calif., Etiwanda HS) chipped in 13.
