Moss Garners All?America Honorable Mention Listing


BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Senior Alyson Moss was named to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All–American honorable mention list for the 2010 season. With the honor, CSUB joined Loyola Marymount as the only two Western Water Polo Association programs to receive a Division I All–America accolade.

Moss, a native of Fresno, Calif., was a first–team All–Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) regular season and tournament performer. She led the team with 105 points (68g/37a), 77 steals and 199 shot attempts. She scored at least one point in 34 of the 38 contests she appeared in and led the team in goals 16 times during the year. Her 119 career goals moved her into the No. 9 spot on CSUB's all–time lists.

In the classroom, Moss was a standout student, graduating with a cumulative 3.96 GPA in history this spring from CSUB. She became the school's first student–athlete to earn a regional honor from ESPN the Magazine when she was named to the Academic All–District 8 second team in the women's at large division.

Earlier this summer, Moss garnered her second outstanding academic rating from the ACWPC for her GPA and was also named to the WWPA All–Academic team. She also received the CSUB President's Award which is presented annually to the school's top academic and athletic student–athlete.

Moss becomes the third CSUB player in as many seasons to earn an All–America award from the ACWPC. Last season, Amanda Ortiz earned third–team honors. Ortiz was an honorable mention recipient with teammate Veronica Campbell in 2008.

The Roadrunners matched their highest WWPA placing of third in 2010 after an 18–20 campaign.
