STRIBLING EARNS ALL?TOURNAMENT HONORS: Senior middle blocker Rosemary Stribling (West HS) hit a team?best .351 while earning all?tournament honors at the Fresno State Tournament last weekend. Her 35 total kills ranked No. 2 on the team.
CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR: CSUB's three losses at the Fresno State Tournament couldn't have been much closer. The Roadrunners scored just 16 fewer points in their three matches than their opponents. Six of their nine game losses came by three or fewer points.
WHERE DID ALL THE POINTS GO: Several new rule changes will take effect for the 2008 season. The most notable change will be a reduction in the number of points needed to win games one through four. That number has been reduced from 30 points to 25 points, bringing the collegiate game in line with international volleyball scoring. The fifth game, when needed, will still be played to 15 points.
WILLIAMSON COMES UP ACES: Junior defensive specialist Kayla Williamson (Stockdale HS) came up aces Saturday in Fresno. Despite the shorter game lengths (see note above), she matched her career high with four aces versus Saint Mary's then chipped in three more against UC Davis.
