Jonathan Johnson
Assistant Coach
Jonathan Johnson is in his second season as an assistant coach at CSU Bakersfield in 2018.

Johnson was a four-year letterwinner for Loyola Marymount from 2008-11. He earned first team All-Conference honors in 2009. He holds the LMU record for most triples in a season (9, 2010), most sacrifice hits (16, 2010) in a season, and triples in a career (19). He graduated from LMU with a degree in sociology.

In 2011, Johnson played Independent baseball for the Shreveport Captains and was named the team's Rookie of the Year.  He was traded to the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League during the 2011-12 offseason where he spent two and a half years.  In 2012 he was the team MVP, starting second basemen in the Frontier League All-Star game, broke the team's base on balls record, and set a league record by reaching base in the first 65 games of the season.  

Johnson was acquired by the New York Mets on June 23, 2014. Johnson spent three years with the Mets organziation, reaching AA Binghamton in 2016. In 2015 he was elected the starting second basemen in South Atlantic League All-Star Game by leading the league in average and on-base percentage.

Johnson grew up in Lakewood, Calif. and went to Lakewood High School where he was a three-year varsity team captain. In 2006 he helped win the D1 CIF Southern Section championship and was first team All-CIF at Shortstop. Johnson has a real estate license and has worked as emergency medical technician in the offseason as well.
