Ben Herboth enters his third season as the diving coach for the CSU Bakersfield men’s and women’s diving programs in fall of 2016. He acts as the recruiter coordinator for the diving teams.
In his first season at CSUB, Herboth made an immediate impact. Four of his divers cracked the CSUB Top 5 lists on at least one board in 2015: Tyler Greenwald (1m & 3m), Brayden Greenwald (1m), Sarah Barker (1m), and Carlee Burks (1m & 3m).
Tyler’s 3-meter score broke the CSUB record while Brayden went on to make the finals on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards at the Western Athletic Conference Championships. Burks qualified for the WAC finals on the 3-meter while both she and Barker qualified for the NCAA Zone E meet, a feat which no ‘Runners accomplished the previous season.
In 2016, Burks broke the CSUB record for 3-meter board by 27 points while Brayden Greenwald reset the men's 1-meter record by 25 points. Both qualified for and competed at the Zone E meet. Burks was a two-time Second Team All-Conference honoree while Tyler Greenwald earned Second Team honors on the 3-meter board.
Herboth is a former USA diving national qualifier and placed in the Top 5 at the ACC Championships on both boards while diving at the University of North Carolina. As a Tar Heel, he was the highest point scorer for a UNC swimmer or diver at the 2005 ACC Championships and recipient of the David F. McGinnis award for Most Outstanding Diver at Chapel Hill. Before attending UNC, Herboth was a two-time First Team All-American, a seven-time East National qualifier, four-time Junior National qualifier, and a 2001 Junior National silver and bronze medalist.
Herboth is a native of Charlotte, N.C.
