Osbourne replaced Dave Barber, who retired as the head men's and women's golf coach of the 'Runners. In his first year, Osbourne guided the men’s team to an eighth place finish in the programs’ first WAC Championship while the women finished eighth as well. Osbourne had five student-athletes, three men and two women, named Academic All-Conference on the year.

Osbourne came to Bakersfield from Glendale College where he served as the head men's coach from 2007-13 and as the women's coach from 2010-13. During his time with the Vaqueros, Osbourne led members of his programs to two state runner-up finishes, four individual All-Americans, and one state champion. He was named WSC Conference Coach of the Year on two occasions.

As a player, Osbourne, earned first team All-Conference honors for Cal Lutheran three times from 1982-84. He was named first team All-District in 1983 and 1984 and led the Kingsmen in qualifying for the NAIA National Tournament in both years. In 1984, he was the NAIA District III Individual Champion, and earned All-American honors that season when he placed fourth at the NAIA National Championships. He was inducted into the Cal Lutheran Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008.

As a member of the PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association), Osbourne has been involved in all aspects of the golf industry for over 25 years. He developed his own teaching method with the use of computer technology, serving as the Head Golf Professional at Chevy Chase Country Club in Glendale. Over the years, he has been selected to represent the companies of Titleist, Foot-Joy, Dr. Pepper, Golf Digest and others in National commercial golf campaigns.

Osbourne has worked in many different aspects of the golf industry. He became president of United States Golf Corporation from 1992-95 where he was involved in the development of a highly advanced golf ball. He then became president and owner of Wisdom Golf Inc., which researched and developed state of the art titanium golf clubs and marketed them through sales strategies via the Internet from 1995-97.

Establishing himself as a well-respected instructor, in 1998 he became Head Golf Professional at Sepulveda Golf Complex, before moving to Whittier Narrows Golf Course in Rosemead in 2001. After gaining a spot on the North – South Cup Team for three consecutive years, he won the All-American Classic in 2003 and several local PGA events. In 2006, he competed on a professional golf team, called the Los Angeles Stars of the National Golf League. He also had a reoccurring role as an actor on the NBC show Las Vegas starring James Caan.
